The Tree (he/him), otherwise known as T Tree or, more officially, Timothy, is a magical tree that grants protection to all transgender people. The Tree is notable for its extreme homophobia towards cisgender gay, lesbian, and bisexual people.
The origins of the Tree are unknown, however, it is theorized that the Tree was created by a spell cast by The Wizard in his youth. In recently unearthed writings authored by The Wizard, Timothy is referred to using she/her pronouns and as their "daughter". The Tree also apparently did not have a name at the time of these writings, and seems to have chosen the name Timothy at around the age of 17. At this point, The Wizard had already long abandoned his son in favor of pursuing a passionate relationship with another male wizard, but scholars theorize that The Wizard likely would have been accepting of his son had he been around. It has also been proposed that Timothy's prominent homophobia towards cisgender LGBs is due to trauma stemming from his abandonment.
Another theory on the root of T Tree's homophobia is much more scandalous: it posits that the Tree had a long-term romantic and sexual relationship with a human trans man from the age of 19 to 34, and that the subsequent breakup due to a fight over conflicting opinions on the Russian Revolution caused him to develop intense internalized and externalized loathing of sexual queerness. While considered revisionist by some scholars and accepted only by fringe communities, there is significant evidence supporting this theory, including the carving of a heart containing "TT + JE" in the bark at the highest point of the tree. The theory has mostly been rejected due to the lack of homophobia the Tree exhibits towards transgender queers; however, one scholar writes that the tree refrains from being homophobic towards transgender people not out of acceptance, but due to an oath the tree took to protect all trans people. This claim has been disputed by many scholars.
The Tree has been found guilty in a court of law for the deaths of 3 cisgender transphobic LGB people, and has been linked to up to 45 more deaths of transphobic cis people, most of whom were homosexual or bisexual. It has been alleged that Timothy escaped legal consequences for these murders due to ties with both the mafia and the KGB.
